Winston Churchill's picture

In the heart of the jump zones of the 101st Airborne Division and the National Park of the Cotentin, the Normandy Tank Museum - A10 AIRFIELD blends in well with other local museums commemorating the D-Day landings including:

  • The historic site of Utah Beach, concentrating on the landings
  • The zones of airborne operations and the battle for Carentan told in Steven Spielberg's television series « Band of Brothers »
  • The Leclerc monument, in Martinmas de Vareville - Utah Beach, symbol of the return to French soil of the 2nd French Armored Division on 1st August 1944
  • The Patton camp at Néhou, where the famous General temporarily set up camp and installed his General staff, to prepare for the liberation of France.

The NORMANDY TANK MUSEUM presents a great collection of American military vehicles from the Second World War. We have gathered a selection of tanks used during this conflict, together with other standard US military vehicles and motorcycles.

The visit of the NORMANDY TANK MUSEUM, historical and technical centre is based on three discovery axis : the History, the Technical improvements, as well as the Human and social aspect of the conflict.

The visitor can establish a parallel between the conflict's proceeding, the human commitment, the technical progress, the social and economic consequences, while facilitating the understanding of the battles and the path achieved for the liberation of Europe.

The Tank remaining the tangible element of this visit, which refocuses the object in the History.

Finally, due to its proximity to the current N13 and the railway station in Carentan, access to the Normandy Tank Museum couldn't be easier. One hour from the museums and commemorative sites of Calvados and within an hour of Cherbourg and Caen, the NORMANDY TANK MUSEUM intends on expanding its European and international development.
