Platinum Fighter Sales: P-51C/Mustang III project. Rebuilding combat veteran P-51C/Mustang III FB206 which scored a V1 kill.
Over the past 10 years, Pacific Fighters has rebuilt four razorback Mustangs: P-51C "Princess Elizabeth" in conjunction with The Fighter Collection, P-51C "Betty Jane", P-51C "Impatient Virgin" and P-51C "Berlin Express". Platinum Fighter Sales is pleased to present a unique opportunity to acquire the next razorback Mustang to be restored: FB206.
P-51C-1NT S/N 42-103100 was delivered to the RAF in January 1944.
Designated P-51 Mk III FB 206 and assigned to the 306th Polish FG “ The City of Torun squadron” and Fuselage codes where UZ*M. FB 206 flew combat missions with the 306th from February 1944 to August of 1944. FB 206 also flew on June 6th 1944 for the invasion of Normandy. Starting on July 10th FB 206 flew anti V1 Buzz Bomb patrols and on July 22nd it shot down a V-1 over Hastings UK. F/Sgt. Rudowski was credited with the kill. On August 18th 1944 FB 206, was involved in a mid air collision with a Mk XIV Spitfire NH 713. The rest of the 306th Sq went on to shoot down 16 FW 190s on that same mission.
- FB206 crashed into a wooded area in England. The substanital wreckage was recovered and after spending time in a UK Museum, was sold to the current owner.
- FB206 is unique in that it is the only surviving P-51B/C or Mustang III with a confirmed Kill.
- FB206 is being offered for sale As Is, Where Is with a Restoration Contract to complete the Mustang to the same standard as "Berlin Express".
