Battle of the Bulge has been released for Pc, Mac and iOS platforms, and is putting you in charge of the German or Allied forces during one of the toughest battle fought on the Western Front!
Battle of the Bulge is a fast-paced WW2 game where precise movement and detailed planning make the difference between a vain attempt and a brave operation.
Set during what the historian Antony Beevor called "Hitler's Last Gamble", Battle of the Bulge provides an immersive experience on a tactical/operational level, putting the player in command of the Allies or the German forces fighting each other in several scenarios in one of the most brutal and wild environments of Western Europe: the snow-covered forest of the Ardennes!
In September last year, Slitherine announced the acquisition of one of the most respected and admired wargames development studios: Shenandoah Studio. The newly founded studio, split into three teams, has been working hard for months on many projects, both announced and unannounced.
Today, a new dawn for Shenandoah.
The stepping-stone of this quiet revolution is releasing on September 17th. A new version of the first classic game released by Shenandoah Studio, Battle of the Bulge, is coming to PC, iPhone, iPad and Mac. The game engine was ported to a different technology in order to support more platforms and expand Shenandoah’s legacy into the future. There are also numerous improvements to the game including a much improved AI opponent.
Now players will be able to play multiplayer matches across different platforms, using proprietary PBEM++ system and participate in official tournaments, using the new tournaments system recently launched by Slitherine last month.
“Instead of working on the next game, we really wanted to stop and look at the bigger picture”, said Iain McNeil, Development Director of Slitherine. “That is why we have taken the time to port the Crisis in Command engine and work on the new platforms. So that we could guarantee to players that we have full ownership of the Shenandoah Studio games and help the franchise grow in the long term”.
The Battle of the Bulge release is, of course, only the first in the series. Drive on Moscow and Desert Fox will follow later as well as more unannounced games in the Crisis in Command series.
“We have plans to expand this franchise to other theatres and give players more opportunities to enjoy this great gameplay system”, said Marius Badita, Head of Development at Shenandoah Studio. “We also have two other games in development, which makes us very busy and we will create a whole new chapter in Shenandoah Studio’s successful history”.
