Many people said the Bf109 was the best fighter of the World War but only if you knew how to fly it . Nigel Askey tells us in his book "Operation Barbarossa: the Complete Organisational and Statistical Analysis, and Military Simulation" that: "The Messerschmitt Bf 109 can justifiably lay claim to be amongst the greatest combat aircraft ever produced, and is arguably the 'greatest' figther ever produced. This is quite a claim, an is very subjetive (it largely depends on how one defines 'greatness'), but in the Bf 109's case this statement is not just spin because it is backed up by a series of very remarkable achievements."
