After WWI there was a series of naval agreements aimed at putting limits on the navies of the world. The 1922 Washington Agreementlimited Battleships, the 1930 London Naval Treatylooked at other naval ships and in 1935, Britain made a treaty with Germanylimited the German navy.
In this episode I thought we’d investigate these agreements, that not only aimed to prevent conflict but at the same time they shaped the navies of the world, in the run up to WWII.
In this episode I’m talking to Craig Symonds. Craig is the Enest J King Distinguished Professor of Maritime History a the US Naval War College and Professor Emeritus at the US Naval College. His new book is World War II at Sea: A Global History
