Battle of Stalingrad, happened in the winter 1942-1943,  is considered as the biggest defeat in the history of the German Army. It is often identified as the turning point on the Eastern Front, in the war against Germany. In fact, it was a of pivotal battles of the Second Worl War. The Battle of Stalingrad had perhaps the greatest casualty figures of any single battle in the history of warfare (estimates are between 1,250,000 and 1,800,000.

This drone footage is amazing, during the flight, you can see he ruins of Grudinina mill, the only building left after bombing of Stalingrad. The ruins of the mill were left untouched as a monument to courage and heroism of the Soviet Union. Drone flies over the famous Barmaley Fountain  widely known from several August 1942 photographs by Emmanuil Evzerikhin that juxtaposed the carnage of the Battle of Stalingrad with the image of children at play. The fountain was restored after World War II and was removed in the 1950s. A replica has been installed at the original site, for the 23 August 2013, for the 71st anniversary of the Battle of Stalingrad.
