Ever wonder what WW2 would look like with Imperial Walkers? We did too!. World War R2-D2: Watch this archive footage-style mash-up of WWII and Star Wars. If George Lucas had been the brains behind the Second World War, here’s how it could have unfolded. Sci-fi fans have reacted well to the clip, with one commenting: “10/10. If this was an actual movie I would watch it”, Tim Nixon, The Sun's journalist, reports.
Tech wizards have reimagined the 1939-1945 conflict, adding Star Wars characters and fighter craft from the original trilogy to archive black-and-white footage of the war. Hitler and Darth Vader are shown leading the Nazi uprising in Germany – aptly renamed the Empire – backed up by an army of Stormtroopers. However, the Allied Forces are quick to react – spearheaded by US war hero General MacArthur and his Star Wars sidekick Admiral Ackbar. Rebel fighters launch into action, targeting Nazi strongholds in X-wing planes and, of course, the Millennium Falcon. Soldiers are seen battling it out with lightsabers – and there are appearances from lovable droids C-3PO and R2-D2.
