According to Ian Walker, The Daily Telegraph journalist, World War II tank Matilda being restored by team of volunteers. Historians believed only two of the Matilda tanks, used in Australia’s largest armoured assault at Balikpapan in Indonesia during World War II survived — until now. Even the slender promise of another one was enough to spark the NSW Lancers Memorial Museum into action.

According to Leigh Van Den Broeke, Sunday Telegraph journalist, riding in a World war two era Matilda tank, the 25 tonne Australian Matilda Tank MK IV CS was a stalwart of the Allies WW2 effort before US soldiers arrived with their superior Sherman tanks
