Between 1943 and 1945, two specially modified military vessels operated on the Great Lakes, providing critical  training for thousands of pilots, including future president George H. W. Bush. Amanda Wetzel of the Grand Traverse Lighthouse Museum will discuss this fascinating chapter of our region's history. A special exhibit about these aircraft carriers will be unveiled at the museum on May 23.
