The German Panther tank was a beautiful tank and a fantastic piece of engineering. Most experts will agree that it was the best tank in the war. The Panther tank was an excellent combination of firepower, mobility, and protection.

The Panther tank was designed in 1942 and deployed in 1943. It had a V12 engine, 7.5 cm KwK 42 L/70 cannon, MG 34 machine gun and carried a crew of 5 (driver, radio-operator/hull machine gunner, commander, gunner, loader). Roughly 6000 Panthers were built between 1943 and 1945.

This tank is an extremely rare surviving Panther Ausf. A. This tank is owned The Collings Foundation, Stow, MA (USA) and it is in running condition. It is one of six in working order and the only one in the United States. Before, this vehicle was part of Jacques Littlefield Collection in California.

Before restoration this Panther Ausf. A. spent 45 years submerged in the river Czarna Nida in Poland. This tank was recovered on 16 November 1990. This Panther is powered by the original Maybach HL230 engine.
