Sergeant Warren G.H. Crecy enlisted in the US Army in 1941 was one of the founding members of the 761st Tank Battalion, the first-ever all-black armored unit. The 761st, dubbed "The Black Panthers", were assigned to Patton's 3rd Army during much of the European campaign.
