German light howitzer and assault rifle are used by Members of the Islamic Front, of the Rebel Free Syrian Army and Syrian rebels in their fight against Syrian Army nowadays.

The old artillery can fire 14 kg shells as far as 10 kilometers (6 miles). An expert from German newspaper Bild said the rebels (2015) most likely stole the howitzer from the Syrian Army who have a few of them in service or from a museum, Sputnik News reports.
- The StG 44 is a German selective-fire rifle developed during World War IIthat was the first of its kind to see major deployment and is considered to be the first modern assault rifle. The StG 44 was the first successful weapon of its class, and the concept had a major impact on modern infantry small arms development. Members of the Free Syrian Army (2012) claimed to have found a cache of 5,000 STG-44 rifles in Aleppo, Newsweek reports.
