Air power played a decisive role during the war. The German Luftwaffe was superior to most allied aircraft and dominated the skies until most of their more experienced pilots crashed on british soil and were inevitably captured. The newer pilots even with their technological advantage couldn't win the fight in the air against the Royal Air Force.

This specific video shows a good example of a fighter raiding a bomber run. Without support, bombers are extremely vulnerable, due to their low speeds.
